Just found out some sad news

I always wondered what happened to these guys. There used to be a smokin band in my neck of the woods that was absolutely amazing! Some really great music. Their name was Sourwood Honey.

It turns out their lead man Chris Conner, has lung cancer. I just found this out doing a web search (It's from January, I hope he's still alive and beating the snot out of that cancer). I was trying to see if they had a tune hosted out in cyberspace, so I could link it here to share it with you guys.

If you like the Almond Brothers, you'll LOVE this tune. Actually if you like music at all you should appreciate this song as it's outstanding...

Chris' latest band....

YouTube - The South - Let It Sing

Here's their CD. If ya'll like it, maybe buy a copy, as it will certainly help Chris in his battle and Chris has certainly done his part in raising funds for others through various charity events. Definitely going to get me a copy. Some serious southern fried tunes.....

CD Baby: THE SOUTH: Monsters in the Kudzu

Article I came across talking about Conners' cancer....

Free Times - Columbia's Free Alternative Weekly

I don't know any of them personally. I had a friend that was a friend of one of the band members (I think it was Les Hall) but I did see them put on one helluva show (Sourwood Honey) and these guys are the real deal. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

  Update!

Just found out Chris is doing well and undergoing chemo. I found out from the band's manager, who told me they're putting together a gig soon and Chris will be playing. That's awesome!!!!

Good to hear, My mother has beaten Breast cancer back, and finally has grown her hair out again.

Modern medicine has come a long way since they tossed out everything china learned in 2000 years. We may actually survive the 21st century.

That is some sweet music! The Kudzu thing is kinda ironic; it is the cancer of plants. Glad to hear Chris is fighting back. I hope they make a swing through NW GA. I will definitely check them out! ( Wow, spell check! Nice job Clancy! )

Good to hear Chris is doing well, just got off the phone with my sister-in-law she is fighting bone cancer and having Chemotherapy her hair started falling out so she shaved it off, she's coping well considering the circumstances, anyone going through this deserves our respect and need our support and Chris will be encouraged by the support he's getting from friends, family and people who love his music.

Star, I wish your sister-in-law the best. Having support is important. I couldn't imagine having to go through something like that alone. Family is so very precious.
