1st "famous"? ...was a bassist for me, John Entwistle...seen with "The Who" at the Pontiac Silverdome back in '75, First concert and this what started my affair with Bass as a real instrument. Just wish I would of pursued it back then.

As far as I can remember, it was Eddie Van Halen in '79. VH was the opening act for Black Sabbath, and they absolutely blew 'Sabbath out of the water.

Well, I don't recall the players names but the first live full blown touring rock band I saw was the Blues Magoos back in '66 or '67. They rocked. I think they had one hit tune, "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet.

I hadn't started playing the guitar yet. I was playing drums at that time. A set of blue metalflake Slingerlands. Ha. I used to ride my bicycle about three miles to the music shop to get sticks. I'm pretty sure I can't ride a bike three miles anymore. But I can still wail on the drums. My brother is donating his gold lucite Ludwigs to Frogs Studio .... very cool.

I saw Jimmy Buffet in 76 or 77. I guess he isn't the best guitarist in the world, but he can write and sing with the best of them. His shows are still the best party in town. (just a lot more expensive than they used to be.)

Whoa!! Dude!!! The Blues Magoos!!! I had that album!! Matter of fact, I think that was my first "Rock" album!!!

I think my first concert that I noticed the guitarist was "Three Dog Night". Can't recall the guitar players name, but do recall that he was playing a Gibson Les Paul, but it was the new SG style body. They only called it the Les Paul for that year. From then on it was referred to as the SG.

But I remember the songs and the little riffs he played on their version of "Feeling alright" and "Try a Little tenderness" and " One (is the loneliest number)" Ahhh!!! Flashbacks are starting, gotta go!!

I planned for it to be Vinnie something or another, Kiss guitarist after Ace Frehley, but Vandenberg opened up for them and I was scarred for life. So, Adrian Vandenberg.

Well, actually my parents took me to a Willie Nelson concert when I was 13, that might have done some damage.

The first band I ever saw was Devo in 1982. Bob Mothersbaugh was the guitarist.

Ha Andy..... very cool. The Blues Magoos did a promo show at Swifton Plaza. I don't know if you remember it or not. Swifton was the premier shopping plaza back then. Even has SS Murphy's store there. It was on Reading Road across from Woodward High.... my alma mater '71 ....

Anyway the Blues did a set on the concourse there. I hadn't thought of it in years until tonight. LOL

I saw Chet Atkins in the early 60's at the Ottawa Exhibition. I was only 5 or 6 years old but I remember how much my Dad enjoyed the show. Boots Randolph was there too - well, not sure actually, but I do remember Chet and a saxaphonist playing Yakety Sax/Axe together so it may have been Boots.

IIRC my first concert was BTO and Grand Funk in the early 70's. After that was Elton John on his Yellow Brick Road tour.

Not known so much as a guitarist, or maybe he was to some. Anyway about 30 years ago I saw Chuck Berry and it was a fantastic experience.
