Does any body know of any good software (freeware?) for making backing tracks. I'm mostly interested in bass and drum; the simpler the better. Something similar to the Groove Builder over on Wholenote.com would be great but I want to be able to save as an Mp3.

It is not freeware, but Band-In-A-Box is good for generating backing tracks. Jammer was good too - not sure if it is still around.

band in a box is my favorite. Power tabs is good also. I use a stand alone mp3 encoder software so i can use it consistently with all of my software from band in a box to cakewalk. you can also import any other sound or midi file into band in a box and use that in your arrangement -lots of cool things to do.
