Rust Red Dust

Please note that the movie is a 8.5 Mb download ... it may take a while.

Here's a little tune I've had kicking around for years now ... I had some words, but they never sat right, so I turned it into an instrumental.

In this movie, I play both the acoustic (my new Palm Guitar) and electric slide on my old Strat. I recorded and filmed the acoustic first, then overdubbed and filmed the slide. I then edited them together. It made it more as a promo clip for YouTube, but I figured some of you would enjoy it.

This in Dropped D tuning ... both guitars. Hope you like it!

That's pretty. Sounds almost scary in a way. Is there any significance to the title?

The title was part of the original lyrics I had ... a song about the drought.

I been prayin' for the rain
Look toward the sky in vain
Everyday brings more the same
Just dust, rust red dust

... or something like that. I think the rains came and I lost the vibe!

Ok, I forgot about that red Aussie dirt I saw on The Crocodile hunter every now and then. Good tune and the title fits. Hey, if you're not busy you're welcome to come and pick at Jim's Jam site http://livejam.jimheidinger.com/

Ya'know, Iwas just playing along with that. That'd make a great backing track if you're ever so inclined.

Cool tune. Nice dual video. That would be a nice technique for a version of dueling banjos!

Very, very nice Kirk. Loved it.

Just dust, rust red dust ... that lyric is presumably not intended for singing in the pub.

I love how you are able to weave the two guitars into one melodic song.

... it's in the "She sells seashells on the seashore" category, isn't it. I think that may be why I turned it into an instrumental, come to think of it ... I could never get those words out!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice feedback.
