I Wish For You - a belated Christmas tune

Well, I was going to save this til next year. But I played with it a bit tonight and heck, why not. I'm fighting a TV in my "Open Aire Studio", so apologies. I wrote this back around the 15th of December and was hoping to get it on for the GFB&B Xmas Radio but never got back to it. In the meantime, it's a tad long and I'll be a-cutting a bit out and obviously working the guitars. This is pretty much a straight take, three tracks, nothing special.

Although, while working the mix, for those who may be interested, I was trying to find a way to give my guitar a crisp wintery tone in the mix. These are all mic'd acoustics, no modeling going on. I made one track of a guitar and then duplicated the track giving me two idenicle tracks. I took the second track and compressor'd the bejeebers out of it. So 1 track normal and 1 track with serious compression. The other simple trick I did, was cross mics on that track. Using two mic's and basically crossed them. One at the 12th fret and the other at the bridge. I then panned each one hard in the opposite direction. Just trying to find some body in my guitar. Anyway, nuff said....

Again this is just a practice type recording to work out the bugs. We'll see what happens for next year.

I Wish For You - Hi-Fi [4.2 @ 4:27]

Very nice tune Les. We'll make sure it's on our GFB&B ChristmasRadio next year!

...and here's wishing you a very Happy New Year. (New Years Eve here tonight).

Thanks for your ongoing contribution.

Clancy

Nice job Les. Boy you sure go to a lot of effort in the recording, mixing and micing and it shows in the final product. As for the tune, just wrap it up and re-gift it to us next year!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
