Away in another manger

I've made this to complement Rockebob's (and Jim Bullard's) versions of Away in a manger. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard theirs, to discover a great version that I never knew existed. It seems there are different Brit and US versions. Here's the Brit one - (but the non-traditional sounding major 7th at the end is mine - I couldn't resist adding at least one modern touch. )

That's the version I'm familiar with too Fretsource. Nice playing. I'll add it onto the GFB&B ChristmasRadio today.

Thanks for posting.

Clancy

Outstanding, Fretsource! I was surprised. I am familiar with that version, too. I just didn't know that this was the Brit version. Nice job with it.

Thanks guys. Steve, I was surprised too about the Brit-American thing - but what surprised me more was to learn (after a bit of Googling) that Rockerbob's and Jim's American version was written in 1887 (by James R. Murray), 8 years before the British one (written by William J Kirkpatrick) yet the American one sounds much more modern to my ears.

  Very Nice

Ftretsource, I think I have heard it before, but forgotten about it.
Can you post the arrangement for it?

Very nicely done,
Jim

Thanks Jim
Sorry, I don't have any written arrangement for it, I just made it up as I went along by playing the melody on top of the chords.

Here are the chords I chose, if you'd like to have a go at doing it the same way.

C --- |Am --- |Em --- |F --- |
Dm --- |C --- |Dm7---|G-- (G7)-|
C --- |Am --- |Em --- |F ---|
Dm --- |C --- |Dm--G7|C ---||

Hope that helps.

Very nice!

I have heard that version, but the one I recorded is the one I remember from my youth (so long ago).

  Thanks Fretsource

Maybe I can figure it out.
Love that version, your right this version has an older classical feel than the one written earlier.
