A carol

That's the song's name in English. In fact it's a Christmas blues. It's an old demo, we have just made another one (got a drummer now) but we are waiting for mastering. This was done in a very simple studio by a soundmaster, that's actually not a soundmaster - just a hobbyist.

Since it's in Czech this is roughly what it says:

A carrol

Dogs are howling at the moon and it's not a swelter - you can bet
Thousands icy prickles - there's nothing else you can get
At the end of my journey, there's just one thing of which I dream
To see a little chit, strange as may it seem.

In the morning when the angels started to sing before my hut
I fell off my bed - me and the hangover I'd got
The way you make your bed is the way you're gonna lay
And you never know what to expect in the next day.

"The baby" they told me, "is gonna be a King"
And that's the only reason why I haven't given in
I'm almost there but all at once I stopped
There is just nothing that I could give the tot.

I got a soul that's howling just like the dogs are at the moon
My heart's an icy prickle and swears the only tune
There's thousand sins that I carry on my back
And there's thousand virtues - that I lack.

"Shut your mouth and leash your raging soul beside the door
And let your frozen heart bu rst and fall onto the floor
Kneel down and say peacefully that you're finally there
Ain't no other gifts for which the King would care."

I got the song from a poet, but since I tried to make it rhyme somehow and go with the rhythm a bit it may have lost some of the poetry in it. (Good 90 mins of hard translation work, though).

Glad you liked it
I would just like to know: What does Czech sound like - in a blues song to a native speaker of English?

I enjoyed that even though it felt nothing like a Christmas tune. Some nice playing on there.

I enjoyed the Czech sound very much.. . English is my native tongue, but I grew up in a Croatian speaking family so the accents are similar (lol kind of!) so I actually felt a twinge of nostalgia while listening to it Differences in the West Slavic and South Slavic languages, but a very familiar feel for me

Difficult question Bee-flat. The Blues is really a folk language all of it's own ...... (Sho' ain't like no English I ever done learned bro)

I think it has to lose some of that Blues grit we all love when translated to any other language. That's not to say that one can't still enjoy a piece of music like yours for what it is. Just my humble opinion, since you asked.
