Some fingerstyle jazz
Please note that the movie is a 4 Mb download ... it may take a while.
Here's a little thing I often find myself playing, so this time I turned the camera on. It's an old jazz tune called 'I'm getting sentimental over you' and I just love the chord changes. Sorry about the slight out-of-tuneness ... I need new strings!
I have rearranged quite a few of these old big-band tunes ... I'll try and do some more to upload. My dad listened to them LOUD throughout my childhood. I got his CD collection after he passed away in 98 and I was surprised to realize that I had perfect pitch with the tracks ... I could accurately hum the first notes of all the tracks in the gaps between tunes.
I'm in dropped D, by the way.

Great playing, looks like there's some interesting chords in there too.
Kirk has also recorded a fantastic slide version of this on his resonator.

I forgot about that track ... yes, same one. That's actually my Stratocaster, Simon. Sounds like a resonator, doesn't it?
It is a wider neck, Tom. I'm not sure of the history of it, but the serial number puts it as being made in 1963. I love playing it ...

Way cool. Would it be ok if i used this arrangement?
I typically don't do alternate tunings during sets but i have tried this one both ways and it sounds much better with the low D. If it weren't so much trouble to teach an old dog new tricks i would break down and buy a 7 string.

How do you end up with 1 million dollars playing jazz? start with 2 million.

That was great Kirk! I really enjoyed that one.
I was brought up on dixieland jazz that my dad was heavily into and that was a tune that he used to always include when he was practising his trombone.
PS....One of my favourite jazz tunes is "Down A Lazy River!" Kirk, is there any chancet that you could do that song as a lesson please?

Very nice Kirk. I look forward to hearing some of the others. I love those old tunes.
Where do you find the time to do all that you do?

Your guitar playing looks so relaxed and comfortable Kirk. I think I need to loosen up so I can play something like that without a grimace on my face and grinding my teeth like my grandson says I do when I'm playing the guitar.

Absolutely stunned me that did.
If I could play like that one day, I'd be a very happy man. Me thinks it's too late now though.
Kirk, you keep me inspired.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
