More than Chemistry. Original
Just looking for a little feedback on a song I wrote and recorded with a good mate of mine.

Nice tune, The vox are too far in the front of the mix to my ears. The lead guitar needs to be up in the mix a little more too. All the pieces are there. You just need to remix it. Good stuff.

Welcome to the site and nice job!
I felt it kind of had a Grateful Dead feeling to it - which is a real compliment from me because I really love their music. One of the few groups I've seen live several times.
Nice playing and singing - keep 'em coming!

Good tune! A remix is in order to bring the instrumentals up to the vocals
as allthumbs pointed out. Nice presentation otherwise.
Hey- I may play slow, but I sure am imprecise!

MS,
Nice melody cookin' there! Great 60's mojo happening. Interesting hook, the chemistry thing. Cool. Agreed, what the others mention about the mix. You've got a powerful voice!
Nice stuff. If you're mixing down your own stuff with a sonic package that allows multi-track, I'd seriously think about investing a few bucks in "live drum" samples (loops) from some place like BetaMonkey. Theres a few places out on the net with live drum samples!

Very nice indeed, I get a Van Morrison vibe from this probably due to your strong vocals and nice meoldy. The lyrics are great and I really felt them as they reflected a part of my life not so long ago.

Very nice. You've got a good voice there. Mixing sounded okay on my box.

Thanks all for the positive feedback. Definite motivation to keep working on other stuff that I have. I'm not much of a sound guy but I will pass that advice on to my friend too. He does most of that. I think the problem we had was we recorded it and then played it back through some of his gig speakers. Sounded great. But once you get a listen either on cd or through your pc speakers, the sound seemed to change. Anyways, all comes with practice i guess.
Thanks again.

Hey MS
I know what you mean about the sound..... I was using some studio headphones that I thought were good. Turns out they weren't meant for mixing down. If you can, get a set of Audio Technica M40fs. They really really make a difference in how you hear the playback sound. My studio phones enhanced a lot of hi-freq's so i was missing the lo-end and things would get kinda muddy. These AT's fixed that problem immediately. You hear the true tones. So when you're setting effects and stuff, you can tune your tracks to sound perfect in the headphones and when the come through the speakers it's flat awesome.

Thanks Les.
BTW, I forgot to mention your comment on the drums. "I hear ya". Always sounds a bit tacky with synthesised beat in the background.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
