Jim's Circle of Blues - #4 - Blues Shuffle in C
Here's the 4th installment in my Circle of Blues - a Blues Shuffle in C. I'm going in chromatic order, so up to this point I've posted blues in A, Bb, B and now C. The first link below is my take over the C backing track.
The second link below is the backing track itself, if anyone else wants to have a go at it!

Thanks Scotty and Marty!
Nope - C#/Db is probably one of the hardest keys to find, along with F#/Gb. I was thinking of maybe taking one from C or D and using Audacity to change the key of it, although I've never tried that function, so I don't know if it works well or not.
Have either of you got one I can use? (he says hoping...)

That sounded good jim, I tried this one but it moved a bit to fast for me and my acoustic. I have one in C7 I did a while back i'll post, not perfect and the recording's a bit rough but it is one of the ones I held on too. Whenever I hear one of these in C it reminds me of the allman brothers yours did too

Nice job on the C7 one Tom. You got the changes in there really well. The shuffle I did is pretty fast, and it's almost hard to get into a blues frame of mind with something that jumpy going on!
Thanks for contributing to the Circle! Oh, and the Allman bros are one my all time favorite bands. I saw them live in 1973 at the Pocono rock festival (bigger than Woodstock!).

Cool Tom! It will be a few weeks until I get to G, but I'll be looking forward to yours when I do! Too bad you missed dicky, but we can't catch 'em all. I have tickets to see Clapton in NYC on Sept. 29, and I'm really looking forward to that!

Thanks Joe!
This was kind of a tough one for me, because C is kind of a bright key to me and this is a fast shuffle - neither of which is really blusey to me, so I had to get into an upbeat, bright and fast blues groove - it was why I choose this BT, for the challenge of having to do that. I know accomplished blues players do it all the time, but I'm still have a lot to learn!

WOW, Marty -- THANK YOU!!!
Did you make that all by yourself? I have no idea how to make a decent backing track from scratch, and I'm very impressed you were able to do that.
I appreciate it so much, and it will be used for my next installement of the Circle!! - likely next weekend, which is when I get my recording time.
You're da man Marty - I thank you again so much!

Jim, the recording software I use can move everything up (or down) in semi-tones up to an octave, so if you have something close, I can run it through and put it to whatever key you need. Let me know.

Thanks Chris!
I think Audacity has an effect that can do that - although I've never tried it to see what the quality would be like (I guess I should just try it, duh!). That was my fallback position if I couldn't get a BT made in C# (or F# which will be coming up down the pike - I think I have an Eb BT, but I'll have to double-check).
Thanks for the offer - and I may take you up on it for other keys if I can't come up with them on my own!
Appreciations!

Jim,
I dl'ed the track you posted here and pitched it up a half-step and you couldn't tell any loss in sound quality. Then I slowed it down by about 10%- still sounded pretty good, but almost like someone went a bit overboard on the compressor. Gotta love software!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
