Hi oasis. Nice chord progression you have going there. Too bad you don't have a better recording set up. The mic is really picking up the top end while tending to lose the bottom. It might be better to pluck the bass strings first and then strum the rest of the chord to bring out the bass more. Your doing very well for just 4 months. Keep it up.

Count your way through the song or use a metronome to keep the timing straight.

Hi oasis,

First, for 4 months playing I think you're doing really well!

I agree with allthumbs about using a metronome. Basically I think the problem is the length of material in front of you when you're playing a whole song and that can throw you off just because you have so much to keep track of. An intro is not different from the rest of the song, except that it's a lot shorter and well defined. So you can get your mind around that, but the whole song is a bigger task to tackle.

You might also try chopping the song down into smaller pieces - just one verse, or just the chorus, and try to get that down. Once you do, then you can expand to include more of the song until you've finally got it all under your fingers! It's a lot easier to learn small parts at a time rather than trying to learn the whole song at once.

Keep it up - you're doing OK!

Jim

Nobody needs forums like that and you certainly won't get it here oasis. I thought that was pretty good too, especially for somebody just starting. Keep posting.

I think you need the Indeo drivers, (which will cost you) to see the AVI and you will have the same problem in Win media player too. However, Win media Player will allow you to download it and hear the sound.

The first guitar I had (back in the paleozoic era) was a dime store steel string that cost $49 back when that was a lot of money. Playing it was torture because the strings were about an inch off the fretboard. But I wanted to play in the worst way.

Keep it up, you've got a good start going.

Reference the Indeo drivers problem for anybody interested: A simple (free) alternative if you have Quicktime installed is to allocate QT (in preferences) to open AVI files.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
