School student composition for guitar and trumpet
Hey
A high school student I know wrote this for a school assignment, and we recorded it in his bedroom.
It was fun to play, though I for one cannot get into Western art music of the 20th Century, which is how they are encouraged to compose.

Very cool! I wish the guitar was a little louder in the mix.

Very interesting composition!
I also wish the guitar was louder in the mix, but it was a nice piece. It does have that spanish-isy, clint eastwood early western feel, but that's some good trumpet playing there (as well as good guitar playing! ).

You certainly do have diverse musical talents scotty. Nicely done guys. The little jazzy chord progressions towards the end worked well.
I guess since your friend has a mouthful of trumpet, you get to chew on the rose scotty?

Nothing quite like holding a rose between my teeth to set the evening off!
Thanks guys
Yes the mix could have been better but as it was a live recording straight to a stereo track the way it went in was the way it came out.

I'm doing OK Scotty! How be you?
I'm planning to add the key of C to my "Circle of Blues" this weekend, and as a challenge, I've got a very uninspiring (to me) backing track that doesn't seem to provoke any kind of natural groove feeling in me - and I want to see if I can do a lead over it that's still interesting to myself (and those listening). C is not a real "bluesy" key to me anyway, so it's gonna be a challenge to see if I can play something that's not boring!

I am well though rather busy at the moment thank you Jim.
Looking forward to hearing what you do this weekend.
I am hoping to get a chance to get a couple of tracks done, but I have so much paid work on at the moment that it may get pushed aside.
Take care

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
