A Little More Guitar Synth - horns

Here's a tune I wrote and recorded some years back. I was working out the guitar synth, a Roland GR50, which I still have. I used the GR50 MIDI out and got the sounds from other tone modules. The sax, trombone and brass section were recorded using the guitar synth.

nice one RB, just listened to 4 days of webcast from chet atkins convention in nashville, bobby gibson (fine fingerstyle picker) was demenstrating his new midi guitar and synth, he could make his guitar sound like just about any insturment he wanted, wasnt crazy about it myself, u can make music now days and not even have an instrument to play, its getting like everything else, just push a button

That's pretty cool Keith! Nice selection to do this with.

It's really amazing what can be done with MIDI now - but I hope it doesn't put too many instrumentalists out of work!...

Nice playing!

Jim

Keith,
I got to bring this one back from the long gone file as it was the first time I got a chance to hear this. Incredible playing to get the other instrument tones out. Excellent!
For the folks who missed it. Including me.

Good on ya for bumping this Eddie, I was pretty blown away after hearing it in V/C last night. RB must've posted it just before I joined the forum.

Thanks guys! I haven't used the guitar synth in quite a while, but it is fun and I still have it. It gives us guitar players a chance to get the sounds that used to be only for keyboard players. The hardest part for me was trying to guess at what real horn players might play. That challenge would be the same for a keyboard player simulating horns. I found that sniffing a little valve oil and spitting on the floor like I had emptied my spit valve helps get me in the mood.

Well noted, I think RB was just too shy.
