Set Me Free - Original

nocat posted a thread regarding our working more and more so we can get more and more stuff. It reminded me of a song I wrote and recorded a few years back called "Set Me Free."

Set Me Free (Keith "Rockerbob" Lewis)

Cool Lyrics RB, did you write this the same time you gave up tv. Nice slide work too.

I had pretty much stopped TV by then, but I had just started on the "sales" side of techy work, which tripled my income in 2 years. I started becoming a true capitalist.

Hey RB, Set me (debt) free, set me (debt) free!
Great job, has a real RB feel to it. Was that you on tambourine? My wife was listening... is that Rockerbob? Turns out your tunes are playing so often in my house that my family recognize some of you!

Thanks for listening!

Yes, I was playing tambourine and shaker, I programmed the rest of the drums using samples.

I am flattered that I am played enough to be recognized anywhere! So, here's a question. What musical category do I fit in? If you were looking for a CD in a record store, where would it be filed?

TOP HITS or CHART TOPPERS

I think it would be impossible to put you into a specific category Keith, you seem to be capable of playing anything really well.

That's another great one.

I have a hard time telling people what I play. It's a standard question when someone find out you play music. They want to know what style. Rock? Country? Jazz? Blues? My stuff is none of those, although a few tunes might fit in one or another. So I tell people "Acid Folk"

Hmmm... good question... I agree you are a man of many styles. Rock would be the closest.

But let's be optimistic. If I was looking for your CD in a record store let's hope it would be in the front racks as you walk in the store to make for easier purchasing!

Very nice RB!!! Great playing and singing.

Well, obviously you are in R&B (although RB also stands for "Recording Booth" so you've got all angles covered!)

Seriously, it may be a category like "alternative rock" or some "folk/rock" variation - you need an agent to help you figure that out. I see your minds wheels are turning!!!

Thanks for listening and the kind words, folks!

I think I'll work on getting an "Acid Folk" section added in the record stores.

Sure as long as you don't have your stuff in the Brown Acid Folk section! "The brown acid is bad! Don't take the brown acid!"

ok, maybe only a handful of people will know what means, but I think it's funny!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
