Listening to you guys has made me want to learn how to fingerpick... So, I've been
practicing... You wouldn't believe the cramps I get...!!! It's like Dyslexia of the fingers...!!!
Here is my poor attempt at it...

Nice one, Ben. Just occassionally there's some slight clashing between the tracks but otherwise that's a beatiful tune and you played it really well. Doesn't sound to me that you can't fingerpick. The practise must have paid off.
Sweet sounding instrument, too.

Hey Ben, thou art too humble! Sounded very nice to me! I think you could take a hockey string with some twine attached to it and make it sound good! Nice sound too.

I have a loooong way to go before I can do this kind of stuff in a fluid way... I went into
contortions just to do this simple thing... Changing from G to Bm without loosing track
of what my right hand was doing was a nightmare...!!!
Man, I respect you guys that can do this well...!!!
Thanks guys...!!!
Ben

Good one Ben!!!
You surprised me since you claimed not to be able to fingerpick - but you CAN!!! (liar, liar, pants on fire! )
I'm proud of ya! I may have to try getting back into it at some point - but it will take some work to get my creaky picking hand working well again.
You Rock bro!

Ben,
Your right I have also wanted to start playing fingerstyle songs since coming to the forum. I have actually only looked at the Shania Twain song... I play it much worse than you play ofcourse... Maybe we'll end up as fingerstyle players and forget about playing lead guitar for a rock band, hey?
Nice song by the way...

Very nice, Ben, a yes, a great sound.
I once did a session in a studio that suffered from traffic noise and the producer/engineer, my good friend Michael 'Stav' Stavrou, had one of those lapel mics. Being a quirky sort of guy he rubber-bandded it to my hand so it was nestled in the palm. My hand acted as sound barrier and I found I could even manipulate the dynamics by moving my hand in closer or out further from the guitar ... we got a great take and no traffic noise.

Mate, if that's a "poor" attempt then I'll take "poor" anyday!
That was a pleasure to listen to.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
