Hearts In Good Care

Hey folks,

This is a tune I've been working with. The lyrics are posted over here if you're interested. I posted them to Songwriting and some folks wanted to hear what I had.

This is just a rough track. No amenities what so ever. Although I did run some compression on it as I thought it a tad too bassy. I'm trying to work out the melody as well as some timing issues between the vocals and the melody.
So by the time I get it done, it may not even resemble this take at all!

Anyway.... Hearts In Good Care... (4.5mb@4:something)

Chapman Jones - 30052006

Les

Great song Les!

I love the words and the music kind of reminds me of Dylan's "The Times they are a Changin'" in feeling and flow - which is a compliment, when you can get a Dylanesque feel to original music!

Beautifly done. Can I ask what feel you were going for with the music? It invoked a feeling of loss or melancholy, to me, that seems to be at odds with the lyrics. Could be just me though. It's early morning and raining.

Hey folks,

Thanks for having a listen. Hearts In Good Care is certainly far from being a completed work. Sometimes things just have to simmer a while before the flavor comes out. I'm not happy with the melody yet. I'm having word problems with the current melody. So it is definitely a work in progress.

AT, I think what I'm trying to pull off here is a bit of melancholy but also a bit of celebration of a long term love. Not so much the tenderness that it would make it really mushy song but trying to find the words and melody that exemplify a long loving relation without going into the whole "I Love You More Than Anything" syndrome.

I'm a nature person by design, I guess. I love being outside and revel in the little beauties of nature that sometimes are taken for granted and overlooked. I often write with a naturistic twist. I thought I'd bring to press some of these little items and relate them to how I love my own wife. What I hoped for and how the last chapter may be.

Sappy.... I know.

Les

Nice tune. The plain recording serves it well.

I could easily see this being a CSN&Y tune with lots of harmonizing.

Nice job lcjones!
I clicked on the lyrics and found myself (or heard myself I guess) singing along with you! A nice love song for sure. Very relaxing! It was great to hear you talking before and after the tune too. Nice touch!
