Cool Still the one?

Hey forum folks. Worked my way through one of Kirk's online lessons, the verse to Still the One. My fingers were just itching to strum, but I tried to contain them! Switched from my 12 string to my neighbour's electric. Feedback welcome.

There's work left to do, CanuckTodd, but the skeleton of it all is there. Good effort. All you need is more practice. Let those bass notes ring on longer, I hear you choking them off too early ... that will glue it all together a bit better. I like the sound, though, and the vibrato.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep pluckin' away at it! It's a long way from smooth, but I found that slowing it down helped some.

Making headway my friend, sounded like nite and day after the last finger-style study, (pictured the dogs ears laying back)..much better by far.
Just a thought...may not be a bad idea to borrow that 6-string for awhile, if it's ok with your friend, or perhaps make a purchase...I'm "hearing" you seem to have a much more comfortable feel on the 6'er. Your doing good....keep it up.

  Shania dreams

Thanks nocat, Gary,
Hey thinking about Shania does help, believe me! One of Canada's best exports. The Swiss are lucky.
I tried that song over and over on the 12 and just gave up. It was too hard to get one distinct note. An experienced plucker / player can no doubt pull it off, but having only six strings, (and nice bendy ones at that) is the route for this beginner to learn this new style. I paid to get my neighbour's guitar restrung, and had the fretboard cleaned and tuned up, so I should be good to borrow it a while longer! I've been out of town for a few days so haven't visited the forum. Strange how you can miss this place.
Hope all's well with you Garry. Hope the clouds part, and the sun shines on.

From the heart. Hang with that 6-string, think your gonna come to like it..ummm...versatile might be a good description..Welcome home.

Garry aka Gazza....when "I" find out I'll let ya know....long story.

Hey Garry,
Glad to hear it's sunny out your way, inside and out. I think guitar, music can be a piece of the puzzle to help you out. Funny thing about the old guitar. I picked it up a few months ago because my kids each got a crappy guitar. I figured the only way to teach them was to learn a bit myself. I haven't put it down since. When I've got a lot on my mind, the guitar seems to magically clear it out. Listening, concentrating, stretching those fingers, pushes all the other thoughts out of the way for a while. If someone else would pay the bills, I'd play non-stop and live in that uncluttered space where notes and melodies ring through my head all day! But this is hardly a revelation to you, as a longtime player, but it's a sweet escape for me and I'm kicking myself I didn't start a long, long time ago! Now I'm going off to hear your new tune! Cheers!
