Mountain Style Banjo

Dave B mentioned mountain style banjo ......

So here ya go ..... an ol' time mountain classic, Shady Grove. Clawhammer open backed banjo. No picks were harmed (or used) in the making of this recording.

Enjoy.

Les

Wow, great tune Ic, love the sound of that banjo. My brother had one years ago, but I wasn't interested at the time.

Very cool , great listen! just curious, did you record the vocals and banjo at the same time or are they separate tracks? All in all a great track!

aaron,

Yes this was a single track, one time shot. I used two mic's though. One for the banjo and one for the vocals.

Thanks folks.

Les

I really enjoyed that. Banjo's have a cool sound. I thought your vocal was really good . too.

Banjo's are tuned quite differently to a guitar, yes? What about a guitjo?

Dugal,

Standard tuning for a banjo is gDGBD. This tune, Shady Grove was tuned in G Modal i.e., gDGCD. I 've read about the guitjo's but have never played one.

Thanks for listening.

Les
