Stand by Me: Video of Wannamaker Band

Here's a link to a video from my band's open air gig about 100 yards from my house in a lakefront park bordering Lake Simcoe in Ontario.

The boys were playing around with a chord progression, and our singer Chris suddenly started singing Stand By Me... and we liked it! I hope you do too.

Guitar player Dave came up with the riff and Steve plays a soulful lead that ties it all together.

Loved it! You kinda sounded like a Stand by Me/ Black Magic Woman hybrid.
I loved playing bass on this tune when we used to gig it.

Damn .. the sound came through incredible for a video! How'd you guys manage that? Really tight sounding group ... I hope I can join a band when I get back home ... that looks like a ton of fun.

Nice stuff.

Thanks guys. One of those accidental music moments. Hey, this kind of sounds good with this, why don't we blend it together.. and hey, not bad! This was recorded on my handheld high def video recorder. Not an expensive camera, but the camera person must have been standing in just the right spot that the sound came through clearly. The other thing that has helped us is a sound man, Morgan, who can be seen in the video running around adjusting levels. Before he came along to control the levels for the instruments (everyone just kept turning up their instruments to be heard) it sounded like a big mess when we played! So, if you are in band, buy beer for your sound man!

Thanks astrat, skinny,
I'll tell the boys they were compared to Santana. That's pretty high praise, so actually maybe I won't tell them! We have some other videos in the works from recent shows, so I'll post those sometime soon.
