Take This Job And Shove It

Here's the anthem of the working class.

Select it at: JohnnyDee46 | Ultimate-Guitar.Com

I've added 4 others since my last post, if you have a hankering for more.

On most of these, I've added drums and one-finger bass (from a bass setting on my Casio keyboard). Just trying to fill the songs out more than my usual stuff.

As always thanks for listening.

Thanks for listening guys. Glad you liked it. Most of my 'real' jobs were OK, even sorta fun, but there was one where I would have liked to have sung that song for them.

Thanks Thowdris.

Needed to get the dust off my drums and keyboard. Downside is that it doubles my recording time, and sets a precedent for the future.

Corresponding to my skill levels in the various categories, it usually goes something like this:
Guitar: 25 takes, finally get chords 100% correct and not muting or clunking, i.e., to a state where the vocals can cover for them.
Vocal: 2 takes, second improves any flaws I hear in the first take.
Drums: 1 take.
Keyboard: 25 takes, finally get one without wrong notes. Depending on how fast the notes occur I can sometimes punch in/out to fix a small part.

Sometimes I do the drums first, but that means humming the song to myself while I make it, so it's too easy to forget which verse I'm on or how I'm going to end it. Easier if I can hear the finished guitar/vocal tracks.

Long answer just to say thanks for listening. Felt gabby today.

Hello Johnny...
That was not a long answer at all.Thank you for taking the time to tell me how you are working when you are making a song. That was just what I needed to see that it takes hard work to make a few minutes of music.I was always thinking to myself how much time some of you guys dedicate in order to post a successful song, now I know.Your post will give me more patience to work with things I have on my mind.I kind of gave up recording because I thought that it was taking me too much time...
Thanks again Johnny.Be aways well...
The best of wishes,
Theo

Well I was being a little facetious there. Something like 'Lucille' with C,F,G guitar chords, and simple strumming, I get that part in only a few takes. But the bass part took longer because I'm newish at that, actually was more than 20.
Something like 'Statue Of A Fool' with chords all over the neck and many changes took a lot longer.

But before I even attempt a recording I've practiced the songs many many times.

My standards for recording a song and for playing in public differ. For example, in public I can recover from a wrong chord, in recording that's not acceptable.

So, as many here have mentioned in other posts in the past, the key to being good is practice.

Eddie - thanks for listening. Gonna have 50 songs on my music site soon.
Knight46 - thanks for listening as well.
