I play slide!
This is my second attempt at playing slide. Although I love Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt and Sonny Landreth, I've never tried slide myself until yesterday. I posted a version of Slick Cat's Jazz-Blues BT and I wanted to include a bit of slide, so I bought one. Kirk, and many others made some very encouraging comments, (one of the many great things about this site) so I dug in this morning and wrote a song which had slide as a feature. To me, it sounds OK, I left in the mistakes, it's a first take after two run throughs.
Thanks to everyone, especially Kirk and Slick Cat, who've turned me on to a technique which I've ignored for 30 years!

Your doing great. A bit more control to get the slide right over the fret wire and it's all good. Just more practice. Good muting technique and clean notes. Nice

Thanks guys, I had a great time doing this. I wish I could record vocals better, but that's for the future. I like the last bit a lot by the way, bum notes and all! Charm has it's place!

Theo. thanks so much. I really get a great boost from posting here. I've recorded, and learned, more in the last eight months than I have in the last 30 years.

I probably never listen to how other songwriters write their songs, I just write on using my own imagination. windsong

Ian, this is a blast- I can't believe you just picked up a slide and started playing like that.
Awesome tone on all the tracks.

This is great Ian, really rocked the house, does sound like you had a lot of fun with this, brilliant job, impressive the way you've just grabbed hold of the slide and gone for it, excellent playing, nice one

Gene, Theo, Chris, Chris, thanks so much for listening. I did grab the bull by the horns there, it's not perfect, but it's better than I'd hoped. Cheers guys.

Very impresssive, Ian. I have a feeling you're going to be wearing that slide from here on in. It really is the most fun way of playing I reckon.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
