Jazz blues, the silly version

When Slick Cat posted this BT, I did a take which I posted in his thread I think. After hearing Kirk's take earlier today I was a bit abashed, so I decided to go well over the top. Everything is first take, including my first ever slide playing, (I went to the next town to buy one). The lyrics are:

Slick Cat laid this down
As a challenge to us all
But today I got the news
That Kirk had heard the call
With touch, taste and tone
He blew us all away
In fact I heard some stereotypical guy from a movie say
'Man that cat can play!'
So there's no changing of the Guard, oh help me please.
It's the changing of the keys

It was fun,
Ian

Ian,

Nothing' silly 'cept maybe the lyrics!! Nice playing. And your first ever slide playing was good!

Pretty neat how you were covering so many different tone styles, too.

Nice Job!

Ian, I thought you did a great job all the way around and for your first try with a slide, that was great. I am a confessed tone junkie and noticed the different tones, and effects I think, for each key change. Could you tell me what your effects chain consists of or what your playing through. Zoom, boss etc. Thanks.

Thanks for listening everyone. I chickened out really, as i felt I couldn't sustain interest over 4 minutes using a single tone. As you can hear, I used a different tone for each change, and threw in organ and vocals as well! ratiugsj, the effects I use are a Digitech RP350 and Line6 Toneport KB37. The organ is ORGANized VSTi and the brass at the end is DSK Brass VSTi.
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks, Ian, it's not often I get my name sung in a tune. I'm blushing here.

That was some nice playing! You sure covered a lot of styles, and if that's your first ever slide take ... look out! You certainly are an accomplished musician. Bravo and thanks again for the thumbs up.

Kirk, thanks so much for listening and the kind comments.
As far as my slide playing goes; in theory I know how to do it, I'd just never tried before,(apart from the odd mic stand or beer bottle!) so I just tried to keep in tune, not too successfully, and play simply. To my ears it sounds a bit David Gilmour, although nowhere near as good.
Thanks again,
Ian

Whoa- dig the Leslie effect on the organ solo- head was spinning listening on the headphones!
Beautiful playing all the way around. I always get a smile listening to your stuff, Ian- bluesy, melodic, with a great feel to it.

Thanks Chris, Eddie and John. I can't take credit for the panning on the organ, it's the VST that does that. Your support is invaluable, thanks again.

Ian,

Were all a bunch of guitar players who appreciate what it takes to make a tune. Each has his own style in many ways. Comrades in music if you wish.
