Ten Words

Covers are not my forte. Originals and jamming to generic bt are more to my speed. Allows me to express my style instead of someone elses. Although everything we play that we might consider original is just the influence of what we've listened to, IMO, and it comes out in the mix. I can tell when listening to others "originals" who they were influenced by. That being said, I am proud to have been influenced from the first time I heard him play, Mr. Joe Satriani. He has been, and continues to be, a huge influence in my quest for the perfect note. This is a song he wrote shortly after 9/11 that he shelved for a few years and then released a few years later on the Super Collossol cd. Obviously an emotional piece. Comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Hello ratiugsj...
A great truth you spoke there. No matter what anyone sais,he is influenced by someone.Without the influence there would not be something to talk to us,to our hearts, there wouldn't be inspiration. How couldn't you not be proud of being influenced from Satriani, one of the greatest guitarists in the world?Only accepting the fact that you were influenced by him means a lot!All guitarists in a way have their own style but in my opinion you can never be 100%original....
As for the song,I think it is absolutely great!Congratulations !!You did a great job there!I really enjoyed listening to that!Keep them coming!!...
All the best,
Theo

I just checked it and it's working for me here. Maybe I'll have to try another host?

Try this one Fly.

Sorry about my choice of host Johnny. Fly mentioned the same problem. Try this link:

I wish I could edit the original post to include this extra link, but I believe the allotted amount of time for editing my post has elapsed.

Great tone JS. Am I right in thinking that the backing track is a download? Pretty good one if it is! Nice playing as well. I'm a Satriani fan also, and I love that 'throaty' tone he often uses for 'lyrical' pieces like this. Hats off to you, very good job.
Ian

Thanks Ian, Thanks Fly. Your comments are also very much appreciated. I have been trying to get his tone for a while now and have quite a few JS models including some that are very desirable. If I were to post pics of all of my gear and guitars, it would lead some to surmize that I'm certifiable. Yeah, the bt was dl from another popular forum. I don't know if I would be breaking rules in posting it though. If I can get a Mod blessing, I would gladly post it for others to use. I have noticed other generic bt from the same forum posted here. Obviously as a cover tune, according to this forums policy, I would have to host it offsite and supply a link.

you deffinitely are playing in your own comfort zone there, are you being influence by anyone, maybe no. I think you are playing what your spirit is feeling and with so many musical avenues to explore
