That Dusty Road (version)

Stratrat kindly let me do one of his songs, I've given it my best shot, not perfect recording had a bit of trouble with clipping on the chorus again (have to stop singing so high ) so dropped output a little bit, volumes ok this end hope it is your end + made a lyric mistake in one chorus sang Country instead of Dusty Road got a bit tired, hope you like it guys and gals and really hope you like it Stratrat thanks for letting me run with it and hope I've done it justice

Best Wishes

Chris

Sounds fine here in the Ozarks.
Nice job hitting the high notes.
The new recording setup does well for you.

Thanks for listening Johnny when my recordings were really hissy I didn't have clipping it's funny how things go but it's better than it used to be, I think I've killed my voice Johnny I'll have to start singing lower in future, going to have to take a break for a while but it's been fun

starsailor, sorry to say but the volume on the vocals were much to low, tried listening to it with an earphone, but gave up ,can you record again with more volume on the vocals, i better get out of here, really your work is always great and i am sure this one is no exception

No problem Windsong, this was a one take so guitar and vocals were all recorded together I just pressed record and played I know it's better to record seperately but sometimes I just press record and see what happens, the only seperate bits are me playing around at the start, I'm a bit puzzled that you couldn't hear the vocals, sounded loud enough here and pretty good on the headphones this end but this has happened to me before, don't really know what the problem is , anyway I've upped everything a bit but there's a little clipping and it's a bit too bassy but it's the best I can do with this recording, hope you can hear it Gene sorry it wasn't better, I can't do this again at the moment as I've lost my voice one high note too many

All the best

Chris

This is probably a dumb question Windsong but did you listen to the whole song or just the start, the start is just me playing with a couple of effects then it cuts into the song, I was just trying to figure out why Johnny could hear it ok but you couldn't it's confusing

Sounds very good the recording is good and vocals (2nd version) sound really clear and the guitar is very clean.

I envy your voice to me its early Paul Weller and just needs a decade of constant gigging to sound like him now. I think the Paul Weller vibe came from the intro, very Down in a tube station at midnight.

Great song and well done!

Great song and well done!
Thanks Kriss, The Jam were a great band, I'll be pretty old in ten years but I'll give it a go, there's not a queue to book me though I'll have to get out more, Paul Weller's pure class, the vocals sounded better on the second one I changed the reverb and had an equalizer and standard reverb on it.

Hi Windsong thanks for pointing it out, I had a reverb called big and bright on it for that echo but far from being big and bright it dulled the vocal a bit, the volume was set a bit low too I got a bit obsessive about clipping, the vocals were a lot clearer on the second one and I'm glad I did it hope I didn't come across as upset as I wasn't, sometimes what I hear isn't what others hear believe me I've put on some dreadful recordings that I thought were ok, another of the great things about this forum is it gives you the chance to run songs past Members and get feedback on how it sounds and if it's any good or not, I've just entered one of my songs for a competition and it was good to get feedback on how it sounded because it gave me more confidence, I probably won't win anything but at least I know people aren't going to cringe when they hear it, so keep the feedback coming it's welcomed and very helpful,

Thanks Mattz, I did work quite hard on this, if I do it again I'll probably seperate everything gives more room for manouvre when editing, I'm just a bit lazy sometimes

Thanks for those comments Theo does boost my confidence, this is a nice song by Stratrat, I'd been thinking of doing it for a while, I found it in the archives and liked it the moment I saw it and he kindly let me have a go, hope he likes what I've done with it, I was a bit annnoyed that I got the words wrong in one chorus but I can do it again with the correct line as I like singing this song.

All the Best

Chris

Hello again Chris...
Once more the interpretation was great!Don't worry though about little mistakes,it happens even to professionals from time to time.Furthermore,as you go you will see that no matter how good you sing the song, you will always want to do something better with it.The road to perfection is endless ...Keep up the good work and don't let little things let you down.Learn from them which is the only way to get better!Keep them coming man ...
All the best,
Theo
