First attempt at recording

I'm basically still brand new to guitar, and thick skinned so any feedback is welcome. This is more of a trial than anything. I'm definitely not a pro at the mixing part of things and dont really have all that many options at this point for editing. That said, here's my first post of anything I've recorded:

Pretty good Maddog. Clear recording, good chord changes and some pretty fancy stum patterns. What was the effect in the last 8 to 15 sec's, it got real tinny?

Yeah I tried to fade it in but my software isnt the greatest. I probably should have recorded it again but that was my best version and I forgot to save it before I did that treble boost at the end. Its a work in progress so maybe I'll get it right one of these times

Thanks for the input!

Good first attempt. You know it's not perfect, but you posted it, which shows a desire to learn. Which software are you using to record. I ask because I would suggest trying to build on this using overdubs to play along with your original track. See where it takes you. Use single notes or play inversions of the same chords. Inversions are when you play the same notes at different positions on the fretboard - sorry if I'm being insulting there- giving a different feel to the chord. I applaud your efforts though, good stuff, and some interesting changes!

Ian

I'm using a program called Screenblast Soundforge(came with the computer about 6 years ago). I've searched all over it for a place to do overdubs, but no luck(yet anyway). As far as inversions, I'm not all that advanced yet, so its all above the 4th fret for me so far, and I'm still kinda shaky with what I've learned on those. Thanks for listening and the input Ian!

Hello Maddog, nice tune you played there.I think what you did was great! The sound was clear enough, the changes really good.I wouldn't worry if I were you so much. You are only in the beginning and as you continue playing you will learn more and more and be able to improve in many different categories.I think that for the time you have been playing the guitar and for the first time recording, what you did was more than excellent.Congratulations man!
Keep it up and enjoy playing your guitar!
All the best,
Theo

Thank You for all the kind comments guys....now I'm hooked.

Here's another version....by mistake LOL

I plugged in my electric to the computer and since the guitar is mono, I figured I'd just copy and paste the recorded channel into the empty one. OOPS! I got the copy off center and dont know if or how to fix it. So I figured to fade in, add some effects, and see what happens. Even though my effects are limited, I like it. See what you guys think of it:

You did a nice job. Your tempo and timing are very good. Timing is major. It makes or breaks the music.

Hello again Maddog54...
Again a good job.The sound could use a bit of improvement, but as I said before you are only at the beginning so in the way you should figure it out...Using a more spatial sound made the song sweeter in my opinion...I think you are on the right track there, nice job...Looking forward to listen some more music from you...Take care man...
All the best,
Theo

Maddog,

Hey pilgrim, did a nice job on the recording. It was clear and good timing and strumming.
Congrats on your first out.

Nice Job Maddog brilliant debut, you can be proud of yourself and it's great to hear another Member recording, what effects did you use on the second one that would make a really cool intro for a song, great to hear you Maddog
