This song nearly killed me!

I haven't posted anything of mine for a while, and this is the reason. A simple song which consumed me! My girlfriend said that the vocals have no energy, I'm not surprised, this was take 24. I like it though, and I'm posting this unfinished version in the hope that it will spur me on to finish it, as I like it.

Ian,
Nice take. The tune volume went down in some spots and up in others.
Mostly noticeable around 1.2 mark.

cool, it did put a smile on me, hope to hear the finish version, the vocals seemed to have dropped off here and there, a little hard to hear in places. overall very nice

I probably never listen to how other songwriters write their songs, I just write on using my own imagination. windsong

Thanks everyone. I've only got a few days left in China; I'll be traveling next Tuesday, but I intend to finish this on Saturday.

This has something of a Men at Work flavor to it (one of my fave bands from back in the day). Lots of potential to it.

Nice lyrics Ian - yes, I do know you're right!!
Listen to your girlfriend! It's only my opinion but I genuinely
believe putting 'heart' into your singing makes a big difference.

There was a lot more heart the first 23 takes! I still can't bring myself to start again on this despite all the positive remarks. Thanks for listening John

LOL yes, I know how frustrating that can be, although I would've given up long before the 24th take. Must've been equally frustrating when you finally get a take you can live with and some fool says "Not much heart in that mate". Don't know who would say a thing like that though

Don't worry mate, I really can't live with this take, but it's the only one left! I scrapped all the rest in a fit of despair. Thanks for the comment on the lyrics by the way; coming from you that's high praise indeed.

I think that this was take 20 or so. For some reason I made an Mp3 of it. Although the vocals aren't mixed, the lyrics are clearer and I think it gives a better idea of the song that this could be. I've got three days left in my apartment, then I'm off to Beijing, and on to Korea. I'm really going to try to put this one in order before the wheels come off! Thanks again to everyone who posted a response to this, believe me when I say that I value all of your comments.
