I'm afraid that was not very stellar. The recording volume was so low I had to crank up my speakers to the point of washing out your take with background noise. Sounds like you need a pre amp or there is a volume slider that needs to be turned up.

Sounded OK here thru my monitors, just need to bring it up some in your mix I think....your bt is overpowering you......nice playing.

BT = Backing track, the drums and such.

Volume...highlite your track..go to "effect"..then "amplify" or use the bt and do the same except lower the output in "amplify"..Hope that makes sense, I don't use audacity anymore.

Thats assuming you used two tracks at least...one of your playing and the other{s}

one other tip, theres a little speaker icon on the upper left side...thats your main out-put level, use its slider to adjust how loud your overall out-put is.

Also, assuming you have the bt and the guitar on a separate track you can highlight the guitar track and use the slider called 'gain' in the left hand box of each track to bring the guitar track up/louder in the mix. Also, using a bit of 'compression' (in the effects menu) will increase the volume of a track as well.

To use the Effects menu stuff for the whole track, first highlight the track by clicking in an empty space within that box on the left hand side - this will give you access to the Effects menu, then experiment.

Jimmy,
I also had to turn it up and found that the drum track is overpowering your playing. Your too far in the background. Try a different tone setting to get the grit out. Think it will be much better. I assume that this is your first recording with audacity.

I didn't have too much trouble with the volumes, i heard it ok. It wasn't as clear as some of the best recordings we hear, but maybe thats just the equipment your using. It did come tho ok for me though...and it was a cool tune

Jimmy, just gave it a listen. I agree with the other comments. You mixed the BT at too high a level. If you run the Normalize effect on the whole track after you are done editing then it will bring up the volume some. It's a little low.

Not sure what you have there. Is it two guitar tracks plus the drums and bass together? If so then bring the drums and bass down. Maybe you could pan the two guitars left and right a little. The problem is that mixing everything together like it is, makes it sound muddy.

I like what you've done with the playing. Be great if you could sort out the mix so we can hear it better.
