I Sing,(God help us)
Is it OK if I post something with no guitar on it? I was experimenting with Reaper, (fantastic program) this afternoon and doodled around, resulting in this, an ode to a Korean girl I taught last year,Lee So Yeoun, and her friend Jang Ji Woo, the LOUDEST girls I have ever met.
This is the first serious attempt at recording vocals, advice please. My thanks to Frank Zappa by the way!

Oops, forgot to comment on the song!!!
Don't worry about the typo - I make my share of those!
I have no idea why you would be worried about your vocals, they're fine and fitted into your song very nicely. The recording is clear and nicely mixed. The lyrics are great and I really like the line 'her grandma thinks I'm handsome'. Is that you doing the ooooeeeoooo stuff in the background/chorus as well??
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Very cool! Nice lyrics. Sounds like you had a lot of fun putting this together.
Now for the critique part- it sounded like you were swallowing the mic, especially on the bass part. When recording you want to make sure that your loudest parts do not reach 0 on the meter. This prevents clipping. Remember that you can always bring up the volume during the mix by using a compressor (or even going in and doing a normalize/gain). Also, I would think about doing a pit more with panning the vocals.

Thanks everyone, I like a bit of silliness!
Chris thanks for your invaluable tips, I really need help like that. I was surprised at how much I liked the sound of my double tracked voice on the first two lines. I stopped to come up with more words, and when I went back to it, everything sounded different. I've started to keep a recording log, listing settings etc.
I've said it before, I know that the stuff I'm posting is rough, but I'm just really pleased that I've started to work on music again.
I just found out today that I've got four weeks free starting Friday of next week.
Expect to hear a lot from me then!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
