Find my way back home

This an original I put together today using my new Home Studio Setup.

My inspiration is a combo of Pink Floyd meets the narrator of War of the Worlds and me wanting to settle down after many years of moving around for the lyrics.

This was all put together using Garage Band on my new Mac, I did use some apple loops (loops are the way forward IMHO). Here is a breakdown:

Bass - Me playing a few lines through the Pod X3 live and making loops
Drums - All garage band loops
Keys - All Garage band loops
Guitar (Rhythm) - Me playing Arpeggios using my Pod X3 live and new Variax 600 again saved as loops
Vocals - Again through the Pod x3
Lead guitar - Me again using Pod x3 and Variax, I actually created 12 loops from about 35 minutes of jamming so its the best bits and not live.

I hope you dont get to bored or want to cry!

Please leave feedback however brutal!

Great guitar tone there. Well put together. I would like to hear the vox a tad more forward. You have a Lou Reed vox vibe going on there.

That was killer Kriss, well done very well done...just needs to be longer IMO

I pushed up the mids a tad and the vox was much clearer

Loved that Krissovo, nice guitar work and a good bass line, the Keys reminded me a bit of some of the stuff Tangerine Dream used to do, don't know if you remember them, Vocals could come up a bit but not too much as it sounds pretty good, I wouldn't mind hearing a longer version, very Atmospheric.

Its never a bad thing leaving the audience wanting more....

I think I shall try and expand this, I have a few thoughts of a bridge section and a really far out section.

OK Chris, here's the honest stuff. It was really good, but I could do without the contrivance on the 'find my way back home' lines; just say/sing it straight without the slur, as you do first time around, and absolutely DO NOT Americanize your singing The first guitar line you play, repeat it as it's nice and strong, add another 90 seconds and you're there IMHO. Great stuff,
Ian

Chris,
Interesting mix. Nice playing on all the stuff. On the hook line, It would be nice to sing it loud with some growl in it.
But it a good tune none the less.

Take 2

I have changed the parts that went "fiiiiiiind myyyyy wayyyy hommmme" and swapped them from the first verse. I have also repeated verse 2 at the end for a couple of reasons firstly to drag the song out a bit as other lyrics I wrote were not as powerful and secondly as that is the verse that really means the most.

The guitar solo is now at 1:59, I might add some more guitar parts but to me the way I have it now to me gets the feeling of the song.

Anyway Happy New Year to you all and I wish you the best for 2008!

I tried it with the growl, didnt work to well in fact my voice could not pull it off. I think I have done just about the best I can with my tired old voice.
