the first thing I recorded on a computer

This is called Lunchy and was recorded using samples and me playing a Ibanez 320 through a Digitech RP350 into Cool Edit Pro. The timing is a bit off, but I felt it had charm, and also I didn't know how to fix it, so I left it like that.
As the title suggests, it was recorded during my lunch break.

  thanks

Thanks for your comment. I had to get back to school, and all the guitar is first take. The end bit 'scream for daddy' is a wee bit tongue in cheek, and it was the first whammy bar I'd had!
Great forum by the way.
Ian

That was quite a production for your lunch hour. Very impressive guitar playing too. I liked it.

To be fair, I had two hours to do it in, I'm a teacher. I just posted to you actually, listened to the CCR track, and my first thought was that I hoped you didn't listen to my track!
Thanks for your reply,
Ian

Hey Ian. I actually like the resampled mix. I listen to some downtempo where they do that sort of thing. Portishead comes to mind. I thought it was very cool.

Thanks starsailor, I just stuck some samples together from a library and played over the top of it, reversed a couple of things and that was it. You would think that after that I'd have loads more, well yes, about ten unfinished songs! I just can't concentrate on drums and computer stuff. I'm used to playing with other musicians and I find my mind drifting toward watching TV when I should be learning midi sequencing and notation. This is obviously why I'm a teacher and not a recording artist!

Oh X4stringdrive! A smashing bit of OTT. I liked the way you managed to get a 60s, 70s and 80s feel into such a short track. It sounded like hopped up surfers playing a Spandau Ballet song with attitude.
Loved it.

Ian,
Quite the mix. There is a lot of things going on in this.
Very good player.
Hope you'll do some straight stuff. Keep'em coming.

Merry Christmas

Thanks eddiez, as I said this was the first thing I recorded when I got my setup, and it was just a bit of fun, playing a few different styles over a loose construction of samples. I have a lot of straight stuff, but, as I've said elsewhere, my concentration wanders and I never seem to get anything finished.
Having said that, I wrote a song for my students to perform with me at our school's New Year celebration, and it's a straight as I get .
I'll post it when we record it.
Trying to get to grips with the technology, especially drum programming, is like eating crackers with nothing to drink.
Happy Christmas.
Ian
