Nine Pound Jam

Gotta couple things going on here. And this goes along with the finger picking.
I had six or seven of me stop by last night and we all just sat down and had us a big jam on Nine Pound Hammer. You're libel to hear sniffles, mouse clicks, seat shuffling and who knows what else in this one.

More than that though, I've been out of finger picking practice for a while and it really shows. This is just a simple three chord set, E - A - B7. By half way through my hand was cramping up badly. It is essential if you're planning on finger picking you absolutely must keep in shape. You can't let your hands get weak. The muscle between the thumb and forefinger is the first to go south on you.

Also, I'm learning the ins and outs of recording, mic placement, levels, controlling the "esses". So, this is not a good production. So in the interest of education, here's how not to do it!

Guitars: '74 Guild D25/6 (thru mics)
Bass: Sledgehammer thru a Line6 Pod
Voices: Ha. Ain't no telling!

heck yeah its sure sounds better than I expected after reading your intro. Indeed "six or seven" of you produces a jam along effect that sounds like a group gathered around the pickle barrel at the general store!
Nice pick'in!

Now that sounds like fun! Sounds great!
When you are dubbing your tracks to you have any latency problems? What soundcard and recording software are you using. I tried to go for that effect and couldn't deal with latency. I have mucho to learn.
This makes me want to get off the computer and grab my guitar!

Nice! When I post a song with a warning that it kind of sucks... well it does!
My toe was tapping, and I felt like thumping a tub and scrubbing a washboard!
Reminded me of the tunes from that movie O Brother Where Art Thou

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
