So It Is - Completed Version
The Breedlove is back...so I sat down and recorded the rest of the song (including the 2nd verse and bridge).
Perhaps this song will be a helpful reminder of choosing love and renewing our sense and sensibilities toward one another during this holiday season.
I rarely say this about my own music...but I love this tune. It embeds itself down deep melodically, and reminds me of some great times sitting around listening to my parents' records of the the Everly Brothers with my brother Mark. His birthday was on the 12th, so I dedicate this song to him. After all, he did come back late one night to give me a ride home just so I could delve into my first kiss with a girl a little longer!
That was a long time ago. So it is...

Well worth the wait, Todd.
First off, I love the melody, the guitar playing- the rhythm is sweet, and the harmonies are fantastic.
That being said, the song would benefit I think from padding things out with more instruments. It is a long song- adding in some strings, bass, etc. to fill it out may help keep interest all the way through.
Great job, overall, though- very professional sounding to my ears.

Dad - Thanks. Now get to work on that keyboard of yours! I agree with cshude, the song needs to have some dynamics built throughout, especially a light lead in (maybe strings?) in the middle (where I hope to have Marshall or Rockerbob...hint, hint...put some leads in), and at the bridge.
X4string - Thank you very much.
tomg123 - Breedlove is it's own company. I have one of their custom shop guitars and I love it. Their mass market guitars (Atlas series, etc...) are nice, but not like their custom shop guitars. The guys at Breedlove helped design the Taylor necks, and one of the brothers still works with Taylor. (I think on their GS series, but I'm not sure.)
cshude - I was suprised to see how long the song was. 2 verses and a bridge doesn't seem like much. Maybe the intro and the "outro" are too long? But I agree...and we hope to start padding it out. Feel free to import the song and send me some ideas if you wourld like.
knight46 - Thanks again.
Rockerbob - I'd also love it (if you have time) if you would add some guitar tracks. I'm not a great guitar player, but I love writing songs and then inviting others to help the song become what it will be.
This is long, but I wanted to thank you all for your comments.

6string and fireblad - your comments weren't up when I posted that last comment, but somehow posted before my lengthy post. Sorry...
6string - I bet you can sing better than you think, but thank you for encouraging me.
Fireblad - I don't feel very confident about my playing, but it's a good backbone to build on. Thanks.

Beautiful song Todd, love your vocals, the Breedlove sounds great and this song carries a message which is very relevant this time of year.
Best Wishes

Nice song, I like the vocal harmonies, very beautiful and emotional.
Just some suggestions but they are just based on my humble opinion.
It would have been nice to add a guitar melody (maybe a violin) and more built ups (dynamics).
I guitar solo, sorry I am a lead guitarist and i want a solo on every song .
These are just suggestions but it sounds great. Good job btw

Chris - thank you.
raybaro - you rock! Thanks for listening, and I agree. It needs a lead guitar part (especially in the middle) and some strings (cello, viola or violin?) would help alot. I'm trying to get my dad to give it a shot, but the key is messing with his head, along with one strange chord fingering. Thanks for the comment.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
