Outside World
Hi,
Here is a demo of one of my songs "Outside World". I posted the lyrics here a while ago. I play rhythm guitar and sing the lead vocal.
Any comments most welcome.
Regards
Stew

That was pretty good. You guys got a band going ? Sounded like a live recording open mic.

Hi,
It was live in the garage or pool room as it is in this case. Complete with audience of 1.
James our drummer has a PA and a rehearsal room in the country (no noise limits). Charles the bass player has an assortment of mics. One mic for the drums and bass, one for the lead and rhythm guitars and one each for lead and backing vocals, all into a four track tape recorder.
Glad you liked it.
Regards
Stew

Nice job- could be Greenday's next hit song. Might be a good idea to do another take without vox and then go back and do the vox by itself and lay it into the mix- hard to understand the words. You guys were sounding nice and tight- well done.

You guys did sound good, but agree with cshude the vocals need
to be a bit clearer, on the other hand the lyrics were in time with
the music so good job

Glad you guys liked the playing. I agree about the vocals. I think I need to work on enunciation. Also doing it all live makes it a bit muddy the vocal mic would have been getting wash from the guitars. We have been planning on a session at the local studio for a few months, we have about 8 originals so far. This take was mainly to get a feel for how it sounds and pick up what needs tuning up before we lay our money on the line.
Cheers and thanks for the encouraging comments

Good stuff. You do need to EQ a hole for the vocals. They are laying to close to the bass.

I enjoyed that, I thought it had a 'Wishbone ash' sound about it including the vocals even though they were a bit muddy, you could always add them again - even now.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
