You Hey: Floyd Pink
Hey folks,
Been a while since I posted anything. Finally got a SoundClick page set up and loaded up this attempt at one of my favourite Floyd songs. I didn't learn the solo so just made something up. First time I've recorded with a backing track. Feedback, criticism, whatever all welcomed!
SoundClick MP3: Tees - This acoustic folk trio, features the haunting and melodic vocal talents of Tina.

Good to hear you CanuckTodd, nice job enjoyed listening to it, no need to learn the solo if you've got the skill to make one like that up and it's good to hear a different take on the song

I thought this was great, have listened to it 4 times now
The only criticism I could offer is the lead seems a tad off key.
Your voice suits it perfectly!

Very nice vox . When I saw you had given it the title of Hey Yo. on your soundclick page, I thought I was going to be hearing a rap version of the tune, to my horror. Thanks for not doing it that way.

Thanks guys... nice to get some positive feedback.
Hilch the vocal settings were a slight delay with compressor added after the fact. Added a bit of the haunting sound that I think fits this tune.
Skinnybloke.. I know what you mean... It's a tad flat compared to the original solo...
And AllThumbs, no rap for this guy! The You Hey, and Hey Yo, is a nod to the copywright police!
Thanks for giving it a listen...

Thanks for the kind words Matty, x4stringdrive, eddiez, jomi, somedayI'llplaywell..
The solo was bugging me so I took another stab at recording it and reposted it on Soundclick. I think it sounds a bit better. (I didn't mean to suggest I invented this solo, by the way) I just tried to figure out something by ear that sounded something like the song, but it's far from note for note!

I think that is the best vocal I've heard you sing Todd. The other parts are good too although I think the solo still needs a tweak.

Thanks Simon.
Yeah, I recorded the acoustic all in one take. I'd do the intro again more patiently, and play the fingerstyle intro until the drums kicked in. I messed up the timing on the vocals here and there... but hey, I gave it the old college try! Lots of room for improvement, but I now have a digital recorder that captures the guitar and vocals more cleanly than before when I just used the built in mic on my Mac. Onward and upwards! One of these days I'm going to try Comfortably Numb, my favourite tune of all!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
