Casi Azul - X4 weekend collab spinoff

Here's a take on X4StringDrive's Keyboard and Drum track that he posted in the collab section. Still action going on over there so not to late to get in on it.

Thanks guys. The first half of the song was done with the GNX2 I picked up off Craigslist a week or so ago. I used it on both the lead and the whole bass line with my Epi Dot. There was a preset that made the Dot sound bassy and the lead was a custom preset I cobbled together.

The last part was my Tele using my pedalboard. X4 and I discussed it on the collab thread. I was going to redo the last part to change the FX but the more I listened to it the more I thought I'd keep it that way.

Nice tune Fly , very well played. I particularly liked the end part from about 1.40 onward.
Hope you don't mind me tinkering but I removed the hiss, it doesn't seem to have changed the rest of the tune too much.

Thanks Jomi. What do you use for hiss removal? I know Audacity has that but I wasn't sure if it would mute the highs. I guess I should play around with it. Makes a difference what speakers I use too. I can't hear it with my computer speakers, but my home stereo it's more apparent. I definitely get more hiss with my pedalboard.

I use Adobe Auditions, I look for a quiet spot - usually the beginning or end and auditions can take a 'profile' of these background noises - including hiss, once it completes taking the profile you can choose to remove it from the overall tune. For your tune I had to run it twice as there were two 'steps' in the background hiss, an initial quiet hiss followed by a slightly louder hiss (presumably you turned something else on). You're right to be concerned about the highs though, noise removal can have to some really weird effects.
These days, at the end of a song, I carry on recording - just background noise and me, breathing normally - I then take a profile of that.
