New Song "Blues Are Over"

This is my take for a melody to the lyric posted in the songwriters' forum for those who find lyric writing difficult.

Guitar: 1975 Takamine F-360 steel string acoustic (Japan)
Mandolin: Late 19th century Barnes & Mullins oval hole (English)

A cheerful blues...well I never!

Have listened to it a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Pretty strong lyrically, especially the fourth verse which, I would imagine, a lot of people can relate to. A nice arrangement too, especially when you go all David Grisman on us. The mandolin perhaps a bit hesitant at first (understandable considering it's age) but finished very well.

I saw my seven year old daughter writing a song the other day, you've got us all at it Stephen.

Thanks for posting,
Simon

Thanks so much for your appreciation, Simon.

I'll redo both guitar and mandolin parts at some stage. I wanted to keep my promise to let you all know what I did with that lyric.

Would liked to have had a go myself but I just can't sing at all I'm afraid.

Really enjoyed that song. Mind if I work on my own version?

Not at all, bluesguy I would love to hear you or others either write their own tunes to the lyric or reinterpret mine. Feel free.

Thanks Jason, Nowhereman and jasoncohen for your kind words.

Simon, you can sing. Almost anyone can. It may take some practice keeping your lungs almost full (not over full) your head straight (not pointing up or down) and just letting the voice out as though you were talking.

Lessons will help. They helped me. (For those of you who think I'm still not a very good singer, you should have heard me before).
