I'm Just A Player - original

Which means I thank you all!

You guys have pulled out some of my old posts. And I thank you for the time you take to listen.

So, I thank you with another tune.

I didn't want to post replies to each comment on a song and use up more space and bandwidth to thank you all.

Anyway, I wrote this tonight because off all the replies you all have felt fit for the works I've done. It's a song that has not been practiced. The recording is real life, real time, The Real McCoy. Full of clipping, missed chords and mis-queues on percussion,. None the less, I thank you all for putting up with my temperament and my songs.

And for the member who was looking for a song for guitar and drums; here ya go!

Enjoy :

I'm Just A Player [Hi-Fi][4.3Mb @ 4:31]

And here are the lyrics ....

I'm Just A Player
Chapman Jones - Ascap 05/22/07

With a piece of paper and pen in hand
I write my songs as best I can
Tell a story when it's in my heart
Make you smile when times are hard

I'm a good old boy just-a strummin' guitar
Put me on the stage at your local bar
Send up a beer for me and the band
Look me in the eye and let me know you understand

I'm just a player
I write a song
I hope what I do
It ain't nothing wrong
I'm just a player

I'm your local musician and you're listening to
The latest edition of my latest tune
I hope you fancy the music coming from my amps
You know I'd feel real good if you got up and danced

There's a million musicians a lot better than me
Some askin' for money, some playin' for free
But friends I can't tell you my feelings inside
When you fire up the Bic's from around the world wide

Write a note on a napkin let me know what you think
Do you believe I'm good or surmise I stink
And just so you know, in the greater scheme of things
I've got a song and i'm gonna sing

I'm a player
I write a song
I hope what I do
It ain't nothing wrong
I'm just a player

Les,
Well thats the way it was.
You know that was pretty good. I especially like the volume and level of the drum thump and guitar. It was very good. Combined they were a great full sound.

Thanks guys!

That really was a rough shot! And it didn't help that I was pop toppin' some of Mikwaukee's Finest at the time! I'm going to fix a couple of the lines in the lyric and redo the tune this weekend. Especially the vocals!!!!! Sorry about that...clipped the bejeebers out of it.

See ya on the tour bus! ....

Don't lose the raw energy of it in the remake Les. That is the best part. I loved it. You kept it real.

Nice tune, but you were crunching the mic input a bit.

+1.

There are quite a few talented players on this forum. They're all different, with their own styles. I personally like GT's recordings, as they're my taste of music, but Les you're certainly in that list too.

Very Very Well done and thanks for recording and posting

I got a little David Byrne out of the vox too. Fun song, Les - another very enjoyable one! Thanks for your posts, your songs continue to inspire me.
