Fun with delay....
...and my new Schecter. This is the Korg AX3G direct into the computer. Getting crazy with the delay. For a $50 FX box I can't complain, I'm feeling the luv with it . The Message clip is my favorite finger stretcher. The short scale on the Schecter makes if a bit easier... until I choked I left that in. The "fun_with_delay" is several tracks of me doing my first little self jam.

pretty fly, fly. That delay can come in handy and act as another hand doesn't it. I agree the mix came out good. And you seem to get a little theme in there. Good show. Enjoy making the music.

Thanks guys. The delay time is only coarsely configurable on the cheapo Korg, as opposed to the GT-8. I set the tempo of the rhythm track so that the strum timing was the same as the delay time (or at least tried). So that each strum is layered with the echo. The lead line has less delay.
I just laid down a powerchord rhythm that I liked... basically A5, C5, A5, G5, rinse and repeat. Then I when looking for notes on the fretboard that didn't clash and played along. I brought out the lead line, played higher on the neck and pushed the other line played lower.
I had some nice chimey tones coming out of the rhythm that didn't show up in this cut. It was getting late and I rushed some stuff. I will bring that out more in future clips. I think its time I picked up Planetalk as hunting for notes isn't the easiest way to play.

Oh yeah, one other thing that I wanted to add.... I'm finding that when using an FX box, playing through my home stereo sounds as good or better than anything coming out of a guitar amp. If you are just playing at home and have even a remotely decent stereo then purchasing a amp isn't necessary. IMO of course!

Nice playing Fly135, I use reverb in my songs, it makes my voice seem a lot better than it really is! Is there a difference between echo and reverb? I only ask because BOTH effects are in Adobe auditions, I'd have thought they were the same thing.

I think the difference between reverb and delay is the configuration options. Reverb seems to have shorter delay and even layers of reflections. Sometimes is configured as simulated room sizes. I don't that it's that easy to set reverb timing to match the tempo. Delay allows longer echo times and configurable feedback and repeat. This allows you more flexibility to create more distinctive repeats, whereas reverb is more a mish mash of sound. This is my take on it, but I'm no expert.

Found this in the Boss literature...
Delay: Digitally records the input signal
and delays it for the time specified, then
plays it back for a natural “echo” effect.
Reverb: Combines multiple digital delays
to simulate different sound decay
characteristics from small rooms to
large halls.
Combining "multiple delays" is probably more descriptive than "mish-mash of sound".

Right now I'm very pleased with it. I'd have to say that I'm mostly pleased with the sound. I have a Epi Dot with double humbuckers but I don't think the tones I get are as good. I'm still not sure about the short scale neck. It was easier to play that Message in a Bottle riff because it's a stretch of 5 frets for each position (great stretching exercise). I mostly was interested because of the dbl HB's but also the 24 frets. But the scale is very tight as you get in the upper frets. This is great though for stretchy rhythm fingering.
It has a Seymour Duncan pup in the bridge. Picture wise this the only one that matches....

If so then I got a $100 pup in it. So yeah I'm happy.
BTW, the signature on it. Do you think that Duncan or Dimebag? Because thats a spit'n image of the pup.
edit: looks like it's a Dimebag pup "Score" the sig matches this...
