Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Hello,

I've been listening the songs played by the other forum members and now I encouraged myself and decided to record Somewhere Over the Rainbow and send it here for your ears:

www.elisanet.fi/anttip/shared/rainbow.mp3

Like you probably noticed I've learned the song from Kirk's lesson (thank you Kirk!!). I've been playing guitar for about 1½ years (mostly acoustic) and would like to get contructive comments from you.

AnttiP,

You may not have enought generals posts in your profile to be able to upload files yet.
You may want to respond to some post in the forum.
Like some intro's or others
I think you need 10 before you can begin to upload files

Hi Antti,

I fixed the link for you.

The playing was superb, very smooth and well recorded too. Sweet sounding guitar. I'd have said you'd been playing for much longer than 18 months listening to that.

I would like to have heard you repeat the verse section again and make up an ending and then it would sound really complete. Overall though a great job.

With playing like that you shouldn't be shy about making more of a contribution to the forum.

Hope I can do that after a year and a half!!

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.

You played that very well and it sounded great, Antti! Welcome to the forum, and I look forward to hearing more songs from you.

Recording was done with Line6 TonePort UX2 USB-audio interface and Rode NT1-A condenser microphone. Guitar is Yamaha LJ16 which I got a few weeks ago. It seems that many guitar players are "avoiding" a little more expensive Yamaha acoustic guitars but at least I like my new guitar very much

Thank you all for the comments! I really appreciate your too kind words Adding an another verse and some kind of an ending were good ideas! I just might re-record the song some day

Well done! Sounded very clean and smooth, especially for only 18 months of playing. Good recording quality as well!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
