Something Different

I tried some rthymn and a little lead over over the top ..

I know my playing isn't real good and there are ALOT of mistakes but I am asking a question here at the same time ..

Does the lead have to be played in the same key as the rhythmn guitar , I don't know never tried lead this is my debut so to say ..

I think it doesn't sound that bad , mind you who isn't a little bias to their own work ..

I cake it take 999 ..

hope it don't cause any harmful injuries like when you fall off your chairs in fits of laughter ..

Go on have a listen ...

I am actually aolt worse than you might think ..

Hilch - I'm far from the resident expert on theory here, but I believe that leads can also be played in the relative minor key. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong. There's also Kirk's "chord tones" approach, which is always a safe bet no matter what.....check out his lessons entitled "The Power of Chord Tones" and "The Power of Chord Tones 2" for more on that.

Good effort Hilch keep it up!
I could only hear you with the right channel of my headset so maybe it would be a good idea for you to check your recording gear or software to see what's causing that (I checked my headset).

Thanks Mick

I was just playing around and recorded som vocals with this , but I am a bit reluctant to post my singing , on this track just yet I need more time to smooth it all out ..

But there are lyrics to go with this I m treaking down some roads here that are very new , I usually just used a cam mic ..But I have got the computor now that has a 12 channel mixer board plugged in to it and a decent mic and I am using line in when playing so birds / cars / family don't become musical back drops anymore ..

Thanks for the feed back

Great first effort Trev. Keep it up

About keys. Yes the lead and rhythm have to be in the same key. (unless you want to get into a weird style of music called "polytonal".)

What Stratrat says about being able to play the lead in the relative minor is true too, but what happens in that case is that, because they contain the same notes, the lead is just heard in the main key of the rhythm guitar.

The music (rhythm + lead) will be heard in just one key, which is the key of the rhythm.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
