What a week and a half gets ya...
Well, having never played a guitar before in my life, this is a snippet of what I can do after about two weeks of hacking.
It's played on a Squier and recorded using Audacity through a Digitech RP150. This would obviously be my first try at recording while playing a riff. Anyway, I guess we all have to start somewhere!
So, just for fun:

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.

Sounds very doggone good for a week and a half of playing, Volfan. Not only did you chord it very cleanly, your timing was right on too, which is often the biggest problem for a beginner. Well done!

Thanks, folks. As you all probably remember from your novice days, it sure does do a lot of good to hear comments like these. I guess it's another step in believing that if I stick with it, I actually can do it.
Having said that, you're always your own worst critic (I'm like that with my woodworking, too) and I wasn't completely satisfied with those because of the way I let the e ring on one note, etc. But I think everyone is like that.
As an added bonus, I let my girlfriend hear the clip when she got up this morning.
I said, "Know what that is?"
She answered (very matter-of-factly), "Yeah, that's the song you've been playing".
(Five seconds of silence)
"Oh......was that YOU???"

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.
