When I close my eyes
Quite a departure for me, my first attempt at a love song, ....well more of a breaking up song really.
Hope you like it.

Thank you everyone, it's great that there are people who like my music and take the time to comment.
Allthumbs
I have a real problem with doing gigs - nerves; I'm an absolute wreck, my hands start to shake and my voice trembles - not a very good combination for playing guitar and singing.
I haven't tried for about 20 years, my ex-wife didn't like my playing, so the guitars were more or less redundant for all that time and I stopped going to the folk clubs.
It would be a huge step for me to actually sing in front of people.

You need to find an open mic night at a pub. They have them for players and other nights for songwriter players. An easy way to get your feet wet since most of the players up there are going to have a broad range of playing and vocal skills.

Lovely song again. If I had your talent I don't think I would let those nerves get in the way. Maybe look for smaller venues like clubs or maybe pubs where you know a few folk and just go for it.

This is another great song, Jomi. I agree that you should find an open mic night or some such - your music is far too enjoyable not to share! You've got great talent as a player AND a songwriter - definitely a combination that not everybody has.

Thank you again eveyone, I'm still in shock from the comments from my last song, a very nice kind of shock though!
I already go to couple of clubs and people have encouraged me to have a go, it's just such a hurdle. I really do want to share music with others. I actually tried hypnotherapy!!
Finding this website was amazing, I get to share music without having to stand in front of eveybody, I get comments and suggestions from very talented people and even a fabulous critique from Steve (Solidwalnut) it's just a pity I joined just as they stopped allowing cover songs - or perhaps not - I'm putting a lot more effort into writing, and also studying some of the lessons here.
Elganto, I'm really very flattered that you like the songs enough to put them on a cd. I hope you enjoy them for a long time, I'm working on a couple more, so maybe it won't be such a short cd!!
Thank you again everyone,
John

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
