Secret agent man

Well i bought an electric acoustic (cheap one 270 bucks) its thin bodied and made of ash wood . If you put "tcy20vv Ibanez' in seach engine you can see one of those click too enlarge pic's (if your interested)

Anyway i used it to record this. No amp just unplugged and zero effects (first time no effects) there's mic noise and a pretty sorry solo. I just chose to try this johnny rivers song cause it seemed to fit the guitar

That's a classic Tom, good job. You're going to have to get a mixer now so you can run your mic and guitar into it.

Thanks all, I had the guitar plugged into an amp yesterday at a friends house and it sounded good

What fly mentioned tho.....i saw on this guys amp that it had a plugin for "preamp" he said he thinks (he doesn't play) you attach a cable from that right into the computer so maybe that takes care of preamp .......then there's volume, treble and bass controls on the guitar, not to mention the stuff in audacity and the amp. So not sure about a mixer

I also had some silk and steel string put on my other guitar (seagul acoustic) and thinking of doing something using them both. I also bought some bongo's and a shaker (don't think its called shaker)

I also been getting a popping noise from the mic and the guy at the guitar store said i need a pop filter for vocals. He said if you sing P's and S's that will happen. So he showed me one for 20 bucks, but wasn't sure if i could use it. Its really just a screen you put in front of the mic, so i was thinking a piece of screen just placed somehow in front might work BTW i don't know alot of things if you noticed

tomg, that piece should be some type of thin foam, not like screen from a door or window just in case you were wondering, it breaks up the wind{for lack of proper terminology} from your voice when pronouncing/singing those P's & S's. And check around ..I paid 4.79us for a slip on stlye and 11.99 for a clamp on style.

Thanks 4string, He showed me a clamp one then i guess. It was in the package so it was hard to see but i said that looks like a screen and he said yeah. It could have been some kinda form tho. I will look into it because hearing that pop kinda ruins the song

Good effort Tom.
What software are you using when you record?
Many of them have pop/click/hiss removal.
Audacity is a free download and can do this by creating a noise profile, all you do is record a few seconds of making the P (puh)sound at the same volume you would've sang and audacity will remove only that sound.
I have a similar problem with hearing myself take a breath, so at the end of each song when everything is silent I carry on recording my breathing and remove only that sound. You have to be careful though sometimes the results aren't what you expect, still; there's always the Undo button!!

Thanks guys

Jomi, i use audacity and have tried the noise removal tool for other noises and it either doesn't work or makes a new noise. I could be doing something wrong tho. I am working on something else like 6 minutes long where i sing though out, i attached the form to the mic which i got from an old set of headphones (like 4string described) and it seems to filter that out pretty good. Of course my overall recordings are still poor....i shall work on that
