Scarborough Fair
Hi everyone, there's been some really nice playing in here, it's been great to hear. I've really enjoyed the fingerstyle work, so I thought I'd post something in that vein...
I wrote an arrangement of Scarborough Fair (inspired by the Simon and Garfunkel version), and here it is. I've attached the tab as well in case anyone wants to have a go.

Very beautifully done. I really enjoyed it. How did you record it?

I agree ... Beautiful James, thanks for that. Great arrangement with that recurring arpeggio knitting it all together. Very classy.
That's a sweet sounding acoustic you've got there ... what is it? Lovely glassy transparency to the sound. How about some pics of your gear?

Hi, thanks, I recorded my guitar straight into a Presonus Firepod, into a Powermac G5 running Logic Pro, with Logic's EQ, compressor, and reverb. Guitar is an old Takamine, with a Fishman Rare Earth pickup, and the battery is running out, so it's not really as good as it should be at the moment...
I've attached a pic of my guitar sunning herself on my back deck. The reflection in the pickguard is my boardies (not sure what non-Aussies call them - shorts for swimming in????), I'm about to go for a swim, it's too hot here...

Nice one ... you sure know how to get a good sound out of it.
It's hot up here too, today ... body temperature -- 37 or so (100 F). Summer has barely begun down here in the Southern Hemisphere ... it's going to be a long one.

Neilsonite, Kirk said you were good and you haven't let him down. As he says, that repeating pattern makes the arrangement.
I don't know if you've ever heard of Ken Dodd, a famous British comedian. One of his jokes is for the band to play a haunting introduction to this song and then he slowly, solemnly sings the opening line "Are you going to Scarborough Fair?". At this point the music stops and he stares at the audience and says, completely deadpan, "No". Probably doesn't work very well written down but it cracked me up when I saw it.

A long time now, I'm 27, and started when I was 12, so that's 15 years... I'm practicing hard and getting better every day, and hope to be for the rest of my life.
Thanks for the compliments guys, I hope some of you give the song a go and have fun with it.

Half way down the first page I posted a pic of my guitar, and there was a tree in the background, through which some water was visible, which turned out to be a pool in my back yard... It's not as interesting as you may have been hoping for!
