  Ashokan Farewell

Here it is with the left hand, hehe, I am at the mercy of my first recording. Sorry for the poor quality, it's all I got.

Nice!

The recording is a little tinny, but the playing is very good.

  Thank you every one

I want to make a good recording of it someday.
Gotta do something with the ending parts to make em a little fuller sounding.
I'm happy with the opening arrangement, which I got from Chuck Leavell's arrangement for piano. Course I don't have the range on guitar,I'm.. thinking of dropping the 1st string to D, to help with the end parts . Any way glad you enjoyed it.

I like this! This was one of the songs that was handed out to me at my guitar class, and I thought it sounded great. My version is a lot more basic than yours, and you are a heck of a lot better at improvising than I am. I I have a chance to record my version, I'll post it under this thread.

Rob

p.s. As an afterthought, if you're interested in the origins of this song, do a google search and you'll find out the story. Turned out to be a lot different than I imagined it to be.

  Beautiful

I stumbled upon your rendition after searching for Ashokan Farwell hoping to find some kind of arrangement for guitar. It was beautiful to listen to.
Thanks!!!!!!

  Thanks

Thanks aero149, I'd forgotten I even did that tune. It is a lovely piece. I searched for a guitar arrangement as well, there are some, but I found them a little lacking from the beautiful rendition I heard on piano by Chuck Leavell . So I managed to get hold of his sheet music on a DVD of a piano course he put out.( Which is well worth the $40.00 I paid for it.) What I did is play the left hand of the piano music on one track and the right hand on another. It ain't perfect but I enjoyed doing it.
His ending, sort of classically rendered, is much prettier than I could pull off, but you get the idea of it. That last descending run was hard figure out on guitar, for me anyway, but I love the sound of it. If I could only play it better.
Thanks again.
Jim

JB that was some mighty fancy picking, great melodic tune and entertaining to boot.
