Doc Watson's Travelin Man by Sleepy - Video
Hi GFB'ers,
Not sure if Doc Watson wrote this fun tune but he certainly performed it thousands of times and his signature playing is all over it.
Here's a version I learned from an overseas guitar buddy. Hope you enjoy it. Quality of the video is not great and I really do need to buy myself a video camera and not rely on a webcam.
I'm including a couple of extra vids so you can see that it really isn't that difficult to play. It can be quick though, so needs loads of practice. It's full of 7th chords and couple of discreet bends (which you don't have to play).
Capo 3rd fret.
Travelin Man
Sleepy.

Nice job Sleepy! Nice singing and playing, had a real lively bounce to that one. Nice to finally see you wearing pants in one of your videos! Must be chilly in jolly old England!

Thanks everyone. Glad you enjoyed it. I don't profess to be a good player, so if I can share just a little of my playing/knowledge of what I know/can play, then that pleases me big time.
CT - he he......my shorts were gobbled up by the washing machine that day

Really good Sleepy, an absolute toe tapper. BTW did you ever play M*A*S*H at your son's school concert a few months back? Let us know how it went.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot about that. I played it at the beginning of show just off stage through an amp and the acoustics echoed beautifully across the stage into the audience. I was very nervous even though no one could see me. At the end I played it sitting on stage whilst the kids animated the end credits. I was twice as nervous then
Anyway I did get a few people come up to me at the end and complemented me on my playing. I even promoted this site and told them if they wanted to learn it to come here for one of Kirk's great lessons
All in all, a good evening was had by all.
Thanks for asking,
Sleepy.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
