  Blues Test

I recorded this with my ErnieBall Silhouette Special using a Line6 GuitarPort. The backing track (including the voice at the beginning) is from an instruction book CD - I think it was one of the Blues Jam Trax.

I didn't really have a "plan" or major musical idea other than noodling a pentatonic scale over the track.

Nice playing ebuljan, nice meaty sound too. You love the blues, obviously ... my only comment is that the pentatonic scale is keeping your lines sounding pretty much the same throughout -- not that that's a bad thing when they're so good -- but I kept waiting for you to change gear. Good stuff, though.

Very nice Erik. Sounded to me as though your phrasing and timing were right on there and the whole thing had a nice groove.

That covers it quite well ,lovely bluesy feel, tone and phrasing but I think that some contrasting licks from the other positions of the scale would add extra flavour over the length of the track (imo) - not wishing to detract from a fine performance, which I think it is

Really nice blues Erik!!

You've really got the feel for the blues and the chops to match.

If you feel like it, I try to post a blues backing and solo each week in a different key (I call it my "Circle of Blues") and so far I've done A, B flat and B. This weekend I'm going to do the key of C and I'd welcome your addition to that thread once I have it posted.

Also, if you want to post the backing track you used here, I'd love to have a go at it, and others may also want to do a take. But, that's up to you. In any case - great playing!

Jim

Thanks all for the nice comments. I feel very good about the first half and agree that the rest was stale. I'll try again soon with a hopefully more melodic result.

Jim, I'll check out your backing tracks, sounds like a great idea! I can't post the backing track I used here because it's copyrighted stuff from an instructional CD I bought.

Understood about your BT! Hopefully I'll have my next BT/solo up today - or at latest tomorrow.
