Free Fallin': Video clip
Hey forum folks,
Here is video evidence of my first "live" performance. (Well, you can see video if you have Quick Time. For some reason it opens with my Windows Media Player as audio only.)
It was Canada Day, (July 1st, note Canadian flag in the upper right) at my buddy Rick's backyard party. The clownishly dressed guy in the bandana playing the 12 string is me, and my buddy's lovely wife Tina is ably delivering the Tom Petty vocals. She's also a fantastic gee-tar player. For some reason this digital camera video isn't in synch so it looks like we shot this aboard the space shuttle, but it was loads-o-fun!
Feedback, jokes about my goofy wardrobe (hey it was hot out!) and my seeming inability to tap my feet in time are all welcome! (Apologies to dial up folks for the size of the file. Sorry Les!)

Thanks guys!
You are right Seagull I spotted that two foot tapping style too. With the video out of sync it does look like I'm playing to the beat of a different drummer!

Cool Todd. You looked very comfortable up there, staring around absent-mindedly, not even looking at the fretboard. You looked the part too. Bandana, t-shirt, shorts and then those sandals, what were you thinking? No wonder you couldn't tap your feet properly wearing those things.

Hi Simon,
I knew I could count on your for a quick quip! Absent-mindedly? Well, it was our national holiday party after all and I didn't follow Rocker Bob's advice to consume no more than one beer before playing in public!
That might explain the tapping feet! Maybe I should stick a drum kit in front of me!

Thanks for giving it a listen.. and a watch I guess. Yes, Tina has a great voice and can sing a lot of different styles, but she's also a great guitar player.

Looks like fun. That's the look for a semi pro gigging musician at an informal outside gig. You looked the part man.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
