Hi Tom!
I just listened to "Working Class Hero", because it's one of favorites of John Lennon's solo songs. Yeah, it's bitter, but he was always one to just say it like he felt it, which is one of the reasons I love his music so much.
I think you did a really good job on this! You got the feeling down really well, as AT said, the chord changes are smooth and really good. I think you've got the right kind of voice for this song -- and I even think the mic you used, which makes it sound like a home recording, fits in well with the mood of this song.
I'm listening to "Angie" now - one of my favorite Stone's songs (good choices in songs for you IMO!) and it sounds really good too - the only problem is the volume is really low on the recording and I'm having some problem hearing the song. I know what to listen for because I know the song well, but try remixing it - if you can - so the volume on both the playing and singing are up (but not so far as to get clipping or distortion). You may have a mic like I do (mine just came with a tape recorder I had) and if so you need to have it really close to get enough volume. If you're using Windows, on the Volume Control panel there's an "Advanced" button under Microphone - and that let's you turn on "Microphone Boost" which may help - give it a shot!
I'll be listening to the others soon.
Good job!
Jim
EDITED : I just listened to "lonesome blues" and "follow the money" and I like them both! Very nice songwriting Tom - and well played. I really enjoyed them both and I think you have some John Lennon in you as well - the honesty of them is refreshing and it's nice to hear songs like this being written again. You have a good singing voice as well.

Jim

Me too and I loved his voice, lennon could have done some great solo's but I think he was basically a rhythm guitarist

Its weird it was almost like someone else was playing through me...very eerie. The mic I got at radio shack for 30 bucks I think its more suited for dictation

I recording this when I just got audacity so I didn't have volume turned up, but its my fault really I didn't sing loud enough so if I turn the volume up it would be the same ratio. I'll see what I can do maybe I should just do it again. It weird I sing better while i'm playing rather then singing on a separate track. I do have windows didn't know about "advanced volume" I'll look into it
