Good Ol' Hockey Game: Stompin' Tom Connors

Hey folks,
I had some fun with this tonight. This song is like one of Canada's national anthems, played at hockey rinks coast to coast. Apologies for the twangy singing, not really in my limited vocal range. Not much fancy gee-tar playing either, just strumming a few chords on the old 12 string. My fellow Canucks might get a laugh from this one!

Hey Delta-D-Dawn, I suppose you are right, I've visited Atlanta and remember the twang well! This Canadian twang is an east coast version.

Thanks for giving it a listen Delta-D and Allthumbs!

I was busting my fingers last night trying to learn a fingerstyle song (over and over and over again) and just had to bust out and do some strumming and have some fun.

Nice song CanuckTodd, I don't hear the twang in your voice, but then, I grew up in Detroit, so I probably sound the same. I played lots of hockey in our backyard ice rinks, made with good old garden hoses. I have lots of stitches, and two missing front teeth from hockey, not that we played so rough, we were just really bad with the sticks.

Nice tune! It's no "Take me out to the Ball Game", but it's fun!

Oops! Sorry D-Dawn! I don't know you well enough to be one of those people that can get away with calling you that!

Hey Seagull, too bad about the missing teeth, but it goes hand in hand with hockey! The twang I was referring to is in the phrasing of words like... weeere on the ayre.. somewhere down the ly-ing, best game you can nayme... etc.. My version doesn't come close to good old Tom Connors, but it's a guaranteed crowd sing along song at a Canadian party, eh.

And yes, RB, it's no take me out to the ball game, but in Canuckistan, our balls are flat and made of hard rubber and they slide along the ice!

Hey Todd
great stuff, even if I cannot agree with the message about it being the best game....

CanuckTodd, actually it was stick to mouth, not hand in hand.
